Perfect Policies: Writing Rules People Want to Follow
Every organization has administrative policies that govern employee behaviour, but often they are long and confusing, and usually written in a way that sounds like angry parents yelling at naughty children. Getting compliance with your policies and standards under these conditions is an uphill battle. Learn the secrets behind rewriting these policies so that they invite compliance, rather than impede it. You will leave this session being able to spot the opportunities for improvement in your current policy suite, and feeling more confident in your roles as a rule-makers.
Lewis S. Eisen is the founder of Perfect Policies, and helps organizations improve their administrative policy instruments by making them clearer, more succinct, and more respectful.
A former practising lawyer, Lewis brings a unique set of skills to the discipline of policy writing based on 35 years of business experience, including several years' experience drafting policies in the Government of Canada. He speaks at venues across the United States and Canada, and is the author of the book How to Write Rules that People Want to Follow: A Guide to Respectful Policies and Directives.
